THE BAY OF SANTA MARTA

... shows all of the glorious beauty of Santa Marta, with its broadwalk „the Camellon“, which years ago was identified as the „Walk of Bastidas“. It is a place which pushes the limits of city beauty in view of the majestic Caribbean Sea. This broadwalk lets you appreciate wonderful evenings while the sun sets behind the marvellous bay of Santa Marta. Additionally, one can contemplate the „Morro“, which is a natural cornerstone that always has been linked to the city´s history.

RODADERO

This is the tourist sector where most of the city´s hotel offers are concentrated. Therefore, it has been converted into the most visited tourist zone. In addition to the beach, it offers accommodation facilities and a big variety of restaurants, bars and discos.

POZOS COLORADOS

This is the tourist sector in which the more pricey hotels of the city are located. There are long stretches of calm, safe beaches, all with an excellent landscape.

TAGANGA

This beach is situated only 20 minutes by bus from Santa Marta. It is enclosed in a bay inhabited by experienced fishermen. Here, one can observe a beutiful seascape between the mountains. It is the perfect place for diving and it offers specialized instruction centres and equipment for the true lovers of this sport.

PLAYA GRANDE

Is situated five minutes from Taganga and it is a beautiful sandbeach with clear waters. There are also nice places to snack close by where you can enjoy a delicious seafood dish while you are enjoying the landscape.

BAHIA CONCHA

After 30 minutes ground speed, you arrive at this marvellous beach with white sand and crystal waters. This area offers its tourists a beautiful ocean landscape, rolling mountains, a lush flora, fauna landscape, and many different fishes and birds.

LOS NARANJOS

This beach is located 40 minutes from Santa Marta, on the km 33 on the way to Riohacha. It is an excellent place to surf and it offers a great view of the Sierra Nevada. Additionally, the mouth of the River „Piedras“ flows from here, which results in a huge biodiversity of flora and fauna which makes it yet another perfect place for Nature lovers.

NEGUANJE

Neguanje is the biggest bay of the Tayrona Park and it is situated in the central coastal part of the park, 45 minutes from Santa Marta by ground transport. Its beaches are the most exposed ones to the waves because of the broadness of the sea. The part which is apt for the public is characterized by two wide sand bars which are seperated from each other by a rock spur. It is a perfect place for snorkelling where in you can appreciate a big variety of fishes and corals.

PLAYA CRISTAL

If one takes a typical boat from Neguanje, one arrives 8 minutes later, to the Tayrona Park, to the so called „Crystal Beach“, which is considered one of the most important ecological zones on the Colombian Caribbean coast. It has crystal waters, white sand and beautiful coral reefs perfect for snorkelling.

ARRECIFES

Is located 45 minutes from Santa Marta and one arrives there passing the main entrance of the Tayrona Park, after an ecotourist walk through the tropical wet jungle. Arrecifes is a marvellous untouched beach which offers a beautiful natural landscape where you also will find camping zones and restaurants. There is also a fresh water stream which springs from the canyon of Santa Rosa in the Sierra Nevada.

LA PISCINA

After Cañaveral, you can walk to the best swimming area of the beaches of the Tayrona Park. „La Piscina“ is named as such because it is surrounded by a natural barrier of corals which form a kind of natural swimming pool with calm, and safe waters for the swimmers.

CABO SAN JUAN DEL GUIA

After Arrecifes, you can walk 20 minutes through large rocks and in between the wet tropical jungle, to arrive at the sea again, to the beach „Cabo San Juan del Guía“. It is a perfect swimming and camping zone, there are places to dine and also offers a viewpoint which allows you to appreciate an excellent landscape as well as the greatness of the ocean.

PLAYA NUDISTA

It is the most solitary beach of the Tayrona Park and it is situated after the beach „Cabo San Juan del Guia“. One can reach it by an ecological walk and it is a beach with crystal waters, very calm and safe waters, and as it is visited quite rarely, it is considered a nude beach.

BURITACA

This place´ main attractiveness consists of the estuary mouth of the River Buritaca, whose crystal waters flow from the Sierra Nevada, into the Caribbean Sea, forming a spectacular beach tongue. In this area, the river is calm and crystal clear and consists of different depths, which allows swimming for both adults and children. Buritaca is located 50 minutes from Santa Marta on the way to Riohacha.

CASA GRANDE

...is a beautiful beach with crystal waters and white sand situated after Mendihuaca. It is a perfect place for surfing.
